Washington University Orthopedics sports medicine physicians have a multidisciplinary treatment approach, working closely with physiatrists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, primary care sports medicine physicians, human performance experts and sports nutritionists to coordinate care and optimize an athlete’s recovery.
Our Sports Medicine service offers a conservative approach to treating the majority of injuries. Most patients can be successfully treated nonoperatively, with only one in 10 patients treated with surgery. If surgery is recommended for an injury, our trusted surgeons are skilled at both common and complex surgical procedures. Rehabilitation is tailored for each athlete’s injury and sport and includes a comprehensive program of motion and strengthening exercises individualized to each athlete.
Washington University Orthopedics is the official medical provider for the St. Louis Blues, Washington University Varsity athletics, Lindenwood University Athletics and a number of local high schools.
