Ohio State Sports Medicine

Ohio State Sports Medicine, based in the state-of-the-art Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute, is comprised of an integrated multi-disciplinary team of orthopaedic surgeons, primary care physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, sports nutritionists, radiologists, sports psychologists and Ph.D. researchers working together to develop world-class comprehensive care for all levels of athletes and active individuals including student-athletes, professional athletes and weekend warriors.

Expert Care Founded by Research

Our collaborative sports medicine research is focused on the mechanisms of injury and the investigation of innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat sports-related musculoskeletal injuries.

The Multicenter Orthopaedic Outcomes Network (MOON) has led to advances not only in treating ACL injuries but also shoulder rotator cuff tears and shoulder instability. Our Ohio State Sports Medicine specialists have been key contributors since its inception in 2002 and have been able to take the advances researched by MOON to provide better treatment options for our patients. This work has led to more effective treatment, rehabilitation and long-term outcomes.

Leading the way in cartilage restoration research, we also participate in multiple clinical trials to develop new ways of treating chondral defects, including MACI and meniscal transplant. Combining the latest research, advanced technology and patient-focused care ensures that our patients are athletes for life.

The Ohio State Sports Medicine Knee Team is a collaborative group of orthopaedic surgeons, primary care physicians, physical therapists and researchers working to provide expert patient care to get athletes of all levels back to sport and performing at their highest level.
